Wonder Off on a Whiskey Trail while Wine Tasting

Distileries Setting Roots Amidst Willamette Valley Wine Country:

A Whiskey Trail has carved its path amidst the Willamette Valley winecountry. The past year saw the birth of Oregon's first Wine Country Whiskey Trail—a collaborative effort among six distilleries scattered across Newberg, Dundee, Dayton, and Carlton. These establishments, often stumbled upon by wine tasters, decided to band together, offering visitors a curated journey through the diverse world of Oregon whiskey. The trail invites guests to explore each distillery's unique offerings, learn about their distilling processes, and savor the flavors of carefully crafted spirits. The program includes a passport (hard copy and digital versions are available), allowing visitors to easily plan their route, study up on each business’s backstory, and collect stamps along the journey. Once you’ve worked your way through the booklet, show it to the final distillery you drop by to collect a prize: a labeled rocks glass.

Unveilling the Wiskey Trail:

The Ransom Wine Co. & Distillery Tasting Room, located at 23145 Highway 99W in Dundee, is renowned for its Old Tom Gin, a style dating back to the 1800s. This gin, revived by founder Tad Seestedt in 2006, is their bestseller, funding their operations. Additionally, Ransom produces five whiskeys, all made on their 40-acre organic farm in Sheridan. Visitors can't sample flights at the farm or book tastings at Duck Pond Cellars in Dundee.

Another noteworthy distillery, Brixeur Spirits, operates a unique speakeasy-style tasting room within Trisaetum Winery. Established in 2020, Brixeur offers an opulent space with a variety of spirits, including gin infused with 59 botanicals.

Killdeer Distilling, situated at 20000 Windy Ridge Road in Newberg, provides an authentic experience among barrels and farm animals.

Branch Point Distillery in Dayton stands out for exclusively producing whiskey, offering a deep dive into the spirit's nuances.

Bull Run Distillery's Carlton Post location in Carlton serves a range of spirits, including whiskey, vodka, and rum.

Finally, Ewing Young Distillery in Newberg pays tribute to Oregon's pioneer spirit with its whiskey, vodka, and gin, all crafted on Young's former homestead.

Immerse Yourself in Whiskey Culture:

Embarking on the Whiskey Trail isn't just about tasting spirits—it's about immersing yourself in a rich tapestry of whiskey culture. From barrel tastings to behind-the-scenes tours, each distillery offers a unique glimpse into the artistry and craftsmanship behind Oregon's finest whiskeys. Whether you're drawn to the bold flavors of bourbon, the complexity of rye, or the smoothness of single malt, there's something for every palate along the Whiskey Trail.
