Best Wineries to Visit in Oregon in the Summer

While we think that Oregon wineries are good at any time during the year, there are some locations that stand out to us as being summertime favorites. This is for a few reasons. The number one thing to consider is that here in Oregon, we love our outdoor space in the summertime! The following wineries have some of the best alfresco options to mingle and sip wine. The second reason is for the wine itself. During summer, we are quite partial to rosé or white wine and these wineries have some very delicious options.

Furioso

In our opinion, Furioso has one of the most beautiful tasting rooms in all of Oregon Wine Country. The modern glass design means you can either enjoy the summer sunshine from inside or step out into the patio to soak up the sun. Furioso has an extensive list of Pinot Noirs, but they also have Chardonnay, Rosé, and Sparkling Wine, which are all perfectly light and designed to be enjoyed in warmer temperatures. For a lovely summertime winery experience in the Willamette Valley, Furioso is an excellent choice.

Dusky Goose

Located right down the street from Trellis, and across from Furioso is Dusky Goose Winery. This is another perfect choice for summertime wine tasting. You can choose from several different tasting experiences, including an estate tasting (a variety of different wines), a vertical tasting (the same wine over several different years), or a private tasting where you can choose the wines. Dusky Goose has an impressive estate with several different outdoor options to sit and enjoy the nice weather. This is also an excellent choice if you plan to do a wine tasting with a large group due to the private wine tasting option they offer.

Knudsen Vineyards

Another great option for summertime wine in the Willamette Valley is Knudsen Vineyards. This winery also happens to be a neighbor of ours and is conveniently located down the street from Trellis. They also allow children, dogs, and picnic lunches, making it the ideal place for summertime wine tasting with the whole family. Stop by Trellis to pick up some sandwiches to go, then head over to Knudsen to taste some of their delicious estate-grown wines (including Rose and Chardonnay). You also have the option to book a hike on the property, which is a great way to get some exercise prior to a day of eating and drinking while also enjoying our beautiful Oregon summer weather!

Penner Ash

Penner Ash is located a short drive away in Newberg, but it’s definitely worth checking out if you are looking for wine tastings to try in the summer. The estate vineyard tours and tastings are an ideal summertime activity and offer stunning mountain views. The gorgeous property features lovely fruit, vegetable, and flower gardens to stroll through while enjoying a glass of Rosé, Viognier, Chardonnay, or Riesling.

While Oregon wine tasting is the perfect activity to do year-round, there is something that makes summertime wine tasting feel extra special. If you stop by any of these wineries, we can guarantee that you will not be disappointed by the combination of views, outdoor options, and delicious wine.
