Oregon Sparkling Wine for New Year’s Eve
There is no more of an iconic pairing than a glass of something sparkly and New Year’s Eve. Having a fancy champagne drink is the perfect way to ring in the new year. While not technically champagne (this drink is designated only to bottles that come from the Champagne region in France), Oregon sparkling wine can taste pretty much identical to this popular celebratory drink. Whether you are in Oregon for New Year’s Eve, or spending the holiday somewhere else, what better way to celebrate than with a special bottle of the Willamette Valley’s best sparkling? Here are our favorite Oregon sparkling wines for New Year’s Eve.
2017 Argyle, Vintage Brut, Willamette Valley Sparkling Wine
Starting off the list is Oregon’s most popular sparkling label, Argyle. With their tasting room located right down the street from Trellis, in the heart of Dundee, Argyle is known for some seriously tasty bubbles. This 2017 Vintage Brut is an excellent choice to enjoy as your signature drink on New Year’s Eve. With an affordable price point, this easy-to-drink bottle will be sure to satisfy you as you ring in the new year.
Domaine Serene, Evenstad Reserve ‘MV4’ Dundee Hills Brut
Also made locally in the Willamette Valley, this bottle of Domaine Serene is a special bottle of sparkling wine that should be reserved for a memorable occasion like ringing out 2022 and welcoming in 2023. This bottle is on the pricier side, but the taste will not disappoint. The production of this bottle is inspired by bottles that come from the Champagne region of France. Some of the most special grapes are used in this varietal and you will find notes of fresh mint, graham cracker, and pie crust with a touch of almond for a delicious velvet mouthfeel to finish.
2019 Roco ‘RMS’ Sparkling Brut Rose Willamette Valley
For a fun glass of bubbly on New Year’s Eve, choose a sparkling rose wine. This pink-hued drink will liven up any celebration thanks to its happy color. Roco Winery has a long history in the Willamette Valley. In fact, the founder of Roco also helped to establish Argyle Sparkling Wines, so you know this bottle of sparkling wine will be amazing. This bottle is made from ripe but high acidity wine grapes of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Next, they are gently and slowly pressed to release the juices. These juices are then collected and fermented in small French Oak barrels to produce a tart still wine.
2021 Cho Wines, Petillant-Naturel Pinot Gris
This affordable bottle of Willamette Valley Sparkling wine is a new one on the list that we love. Cho Wines, which was founded by the first Korean winemakers in our area, uses their ancestral method for making sparkling Pinot Gris. The result is a sparkling bottle that is a fun, frisky tangerine dream, with lively bubbles that add to a lithe and lean mouthfeel. Additional tasting notes include peach gelato, jasmine white tea, lemon, and a chalky mineral note. This one is not to be missed!
Be sure to stop by Trellis this New Year’s Eve to sample any of these bottles. We know that you will love them no matter what your celebrations are for ringing in the New Year.
